Classic in the Moorlands
Duo Ultima, is Guido Bäumer on alto saxophone and Aladár Rácz on piano. Their program is a colourful and exciting collection of French music with works by André Caplet, Claude Debussy, Jean Français, Darius Milhaud, Florent Schmitt and André Jolivet. They have been performing together for thirteen years, playing in Iceland and abroad. They recently did a European tour with performances in Germany, Spain, Hungary and Romania. The international publishing company Odrarek Records has released three CDs with the duo, the last one, (French Connection) was released spring 2017.
Guido Bäumer was born in Northern-Germany and studied in Bremen, Basel in Switzerland and at the Bowling Green State University in Ohio. He has been a soloist with the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra, the Northern Symphony Orchestra, the Caput New Music Ensemble and the Reykjavík Chamber Orchestra.
Aládar Rácz was born in Romania and studied in Bucharest and Budapest. He has won many awards at several international competitions, which led to numerous performances around the world and a number of CD recordings. He has worked as a soloist, chamber musician and accompanist in IcelandÂ´s North and East as well as in the Capital Region. He has played the piano concerti no. 1 by Beethoven and Brahms with the Northern Symphony Orchestra in Akureyri.

Admittance to the concert is kr. 2.500, kr. 1.500 for seniors and the disabled, free for students and guests under the age of twenty. Subscription to four concerts is kr. 7.500 or 4.500 for seniors or disabled. Tickets available on tix.is and at the entrance. The concert series Klassík í Vatnsmýrinni is organised in collaboration between the Icelandic Soloist Society and the Nordic House and places great emphasis on Scandinavian and international cooperation.
