The reason for the visit is to observe the situation in Ukraine first hand and meet with Ukranian officials according to an announcement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.  This is the first time an Icelandic Minister visits Ukraine since the Russian invasion of the country in February.

Gylfadóttir posts a picture of herself with the other ministers and writes: “Despite Russia’s bomb rains and barbaric brutality Ukraine will win!”

The Ministry has not revealed how long the minister’s visit will be in Ukraine or whether she will meet the president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky.
