A group of skiers were caught in an avalanche on Tröllaskagi peninsula, close to the south of Ólafsfjörður, and one of them is believed to have broken his leg. An announcement was made about 12:30 PM today. It also stated that no one was lost in the avalanche.

According to Jón Þór Víglundsson, information officer of the ICE-SAR Association, Landsbjörg, a Coast Guard helicopter is on its way to the site, along with rescue teams from the vicinity.

He says there is a risk of avalanches in the Tröllaskagi peninsula and that a special operational plan has been activated today because of the accident.
