Voted the best crime novel in 50 years

"This was an outstanding evening in Paris and I am very happy to have been able to be her in person to accept this award. I am very touched," said Ragnar Jónasson the Icelandic crime novelist.
His novel, Snjóblinda, or Snow Blind, was voted the best crime novel that has been published in France in the last 50 years by French book aficionados. Ragnar accepted the award last Wednesday in Paris.
Not long ago the French publisher Points, which specializes in paperbacks and the magazine Le Point decided to present special literary awards to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the magazine.
Eighteen books í three categories of literary works, crime novels and non fiction were nominated. The decision was then handed over to the readers of said categories.
In the non-fiction category, The Gulag Archipelago by Alexander Solzhenitsyn came in first but in the literary works category the book Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens was number one and Jónasson's Snow Blind came in first in the crime fiction category, with a definitive lead, but among other frontrunners in that category was another Icelandic author, Arnaldur Indriðason, for his book Jar City.
