Public Transport – Fjarðabyggð and Egilsstaðir
Fjarðabyggð has a public transport system which also stretches into Fljótsdalshérað, to Egilsstaðir and Fellabær. Reyðarfjörður is central to this system and a transport hub of sorts for the region. All in all there are three routes in the Fjarðabyggð-public transport system. Route 1 connects Reyðarfjörður to Eskifjörður and Norðfjörður. Route 2 runs between Egilsstaðir, Fellabær and Reyðarfjörður in. Bus on Route 2 stops among other places at Egilsstaðir-Airport, which is also a hub for various other routes and ways of transport. Finally, Route 3 connects Reyðarfjörður, Fáskrúðsfjörður, Stöðvarfjörður and Breiðdalsvík. Trips are frequent on every day of the week, however there is a separate timetable for weekends and holidays.
Following are the bus stops in Fáskrúðsfjörður: By the cemetery – Skólavegur – Skrúður – Skólavegur/Læknislækur – Læknisbústaður/French hospital – Búðavegur.

Other schedule buses
Bus companies Sterna and Hópferðabílar Akureyrar operate routes connecting Egilsstaðir and Höfn, passing through many of the eastern fjords. Sterna‘s route from Höfn to Egilsstaðir is called Route 9 and its alternate Route 9a. For Hópferðabílar Akureyrar Route 1 goes Egilsstaðir – Höfn and its alternate is called Route 1a. The routes for both companies are identical. They go as follows: Höfn – Djúpivogur – Berunes – Breiðdalsvík – Stöðvarfjörður – Fáskrúðsfjörður – Reyðarfjörður – Egilsstaðir. Buses from both companies stop at the Shell petrol station by Búðavegur in Fáskrúðsfjörður. Sterna buses leave Fáskrúðsfjörður for Egilsstaðir at 11:50 a.m. and are scheduled to arrive in Egilsstaðir at 12:30 p.m. Hópferðabílar Akureyrar buses leave Fáskrúðsfjörður at 7:15 p.m. and are scheduled to arrive in Egilsstaðir at 8:05 p.m. On the alternate Route 9a the Sterna buses leave Fáskrúðsfjörður for Höfn at 2:10 p.m. and the Hópferðabílar Akureyrar buses on Route 1 leave Fáskrúðsfjörður for Höfn at 11:50 a.m. The Sterna summer schedule is valid from May 15th 2012 until September 15th 2012 and the Hópferðabílar Akureyrar summer schedule is valid from June 1st until September 15th.
