Former Mayor of Reykjavik, Jón Gnarr will be announcing today, Friday, whether he will be running for President of Iceland. The announcement will be made in one of the media run by media company 365, where he currently works as director of Icelandic programming.

Asked by mbl.is yesterday where the announcement would be made exactly, Gnarr replied that he couldn't disclose that as yet.

"I have felt a great wave of support and the most unlikely people have approached me on the matter. It's been a regular occurence since I stepped down as Mayor. "

Asked about his possible candidature Gnarr said to mbl.is that "anything is possible," but would not give any further details.

The presidential elections in Iceland will be taking place on June 25th this year and so far, several candidates have stepped forward.
