Latest opinion polls indicate a surge in support for Iceland’s governing coalition, while the country’s Pirate Party (‘Píratar’) remains the most popular individual party.

The ruling Independence Party (‘Sjálfstæðisflokkurinn’) and Progressive Party (‘Framsóknarflokkurinn’) have both garnered further support since the last polls conducted a month ago, and together attract 35.8% of the vote.

The Pirate Party remains Iceland’s most popular individual party despite falling two points to 31.8%.

All other parties have remained stable or suffered small losses, according to a sample poll of 8,460 Icelanders.

Just over 11% of those surveyed did not know or did not answer who they would vote for if general elections took place today, while just over 10% would vote blank.
