Last-minute deal averts strikes
Just after 7pm yesterday evening, six unions threating crippling strike action signed an agreement on pay and working conditions.
Strike action – scheduled to begin just a few hours later at midnight – was therefore called off.
The unions in question are: Félag hársnyrtisveina (hairdressers), Grafía/FBM (printers), MATVÍS (caterers), RSÍ (electrical and electronic engineers), Samiðn (construction and industrial workers) and VM (metal technicians).
