Snow depth was measured at 51 cm at 9 am this  morning in the capital which breaks the record of 48 cm in February in 1952.  Only once has this been exceeded, in January of 1937 when snow was 55 cm.

The weather forecast for the next few days is for clear, calm weather so the snow will settle for a while.

Police continue to stress to people to avoid driving this morning as many cars are getting stuck.

The road leading to Keflavik International Airport is clear.
