Nothing has yet appeared in the extensive investigation on the disappearance of Birna Brjánsdóttir to shed light on where she is. Three crew members of the Polar Nanoq trawler were arrested yesterday and police have demanded that they remain in police custody.

Police will not disclose whether the men have spoken about Birna at all, or whether any clues to her disappearance were found on board the Greenlandic trawler. Neither can they disclose any information about the red Kia car which they rented and is also being checked for evidence.

The three men will go before a hearing at the District Court today for a ruling of police custody.

Birna Brjánsdóttir, 20 years old, has now been missing for 124 hours.

Police officer Grímur Grímsson who is heading the investigation said to mbl.is that there is a possibility that Birna's shoes were intentionally placed near Hafnarfjörður harbour to mislead police, but that this is not at all certain.
