Coach accident tourists in shock

The 27 tourists and their Icelandic guide were transported to the Red Cross crisis centre in Mosfellssbær where they were treated for minor injuries and shock.

"They have tried to speak to us but most of them only speak Mandarin and we've had some communication problems," says press officer for the Red Cross, Björn Teitsson.

"They've been given shelter, a warm meal and three doctors have attended to them, as well as two psychiatrists. They are very grateful."

A few of the tourists hwo were not injured had gone missing because helpful people had bundled them up in their cars. "Our figures didn't add up but finally we located everyone," said the chief of police to mbl.is.

The National University Hospital has called off the emergency code yellow and the blood bank of Iceland has received enough of blood type O today.
