The video of Icelandic MP Unnur Brá Konráðsdóttir breastfeeding her new-born daughter while addressing fellow MPs in the Icelandic Parliament has gone viral.

“It didn’t occur to me how far and wide this moment in Parliament would spread,” writes Konráðsdóttir on social media today.

“I gather over 5,000,000 people have seen the video. I have received e-mails from Australia, Kenya, Canada, Poland, Slovakia and France from people happy to see that there is a country in the world where people don’t bat an eye if a woman feeds her child, wherever and whenever. We must all be able to agree that we can be proud of living in such a country.”

“I also received a link from the son-in-law of Tine Schmedes, who was ejected from the chamber of the Copenhagen City Council with her baby back in 1974.”
