Icelandic midfielder Gylfi Þór Sigurðsson has made it into the ‘50 best players in the Premier League’ list currently being published by the British newspaper The Mirror.

Mirror sports writer Alex Richards puts Sigurðsson in 41st place, saying:

“The Icelandic midfielder averages a goal or an assist every three games in the Premier League, over the course of two successful spells at Swansea and a more difficult spell at Tottenham.”

“Even as the Swans [Swansea] struggle, Sigurðsson’s quality isn’t in doubt, so often the man who helps make a difference.”

“Leroy Fer’s [Swansea midfielder] early-season form notwithstanding, Sigurðsson remains his side’s best player, whether playing in his favoured No 10 role, or cutting inside onto his right foot from the left flank.

The Mirror has so far published the players placed 50-31, and Sigurðsson is the only Icelandic name there.
