Iceland’s men’s national football face Finland in their second World Cup 2018 qualifier at home in Reykjavik tonight – but the stats are not on their side.

The two teams are meeting for the twelfth time today. This is their first tournament game, the eleven previous matches having been friendlies.

As can be seen below, Finland have won most of the two teams’ previous encounters. That said, the most recent Iceland-Finland game ended with a 1-0 victory for Iceland, back in January this year.

On current for, though, Iceland should be the hot favourite to win tonight’s fixture – Iceland are currently 27th on the FIFA World Ranking list, while Finland are 84th.
