A direct flight between Iceland and Japan?

Iceland and Japan are both very interesting in launching a non-stop scheduled flight service linking the two countries, it has emerged.

Icelandic Foreign Minister Lilja Alfreðsdóttir met with representatives of the Japanese parliament yesterday, and the subject of an air link was discussed. Both of Iceland’s international airlines have aircraft with the range to fly from Iceland to Japan non-stop.

The Japanese delegation is visiting Iceland on the occasion of the sixtieth anniversary of the launch of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

As well as an aviation deal between Iceland and Japan, the meeting discussed work on a possible double-taxation agreement and cooperation in the field of resources and energy.
