With less than a month to go to the opening ceremony of 2016 of the Rio Olympic Games in Brazil, eight Icelanders have secured the right to represent their country.

The games will be held on 5-12 August. Since the country’s first Olympic participation back in 1908, Icelandic athletes have won a total of four medals – two silver and two bronze – in athletics (2), judo, and handball.
