Reykjavik square turned into Euro 2016 fest
Reykjavik City Council has approved use of a central square in the city for broadcasts of Euro 2016 football matches this summer.
The Football Association of Iceland – in cooperation with various Icelandic sponsors – will be organising events on Reykjavik’s Ingólfstorg centred around screening of the Euro 2016 football finals, in which Iceland is participating for the first time .

Taxpayers of the city will pay nothing towards the events, the entire cost being borne by organisers.
The FAI and co-organisers will be screening all Euro 2016 matches free of charge, as well as organising football-related family entertainment – including catering – throughout the duration of the tournament.
Iceland’s first Euro 2016 match is on Tuesday 14 June, 21:00 CET, against Portugal.
