The Reykjavik Metropolitan Police have sealed up eight rooms at Hótel Adam in Skólavörðustígur. It seems that the matter regarding their advice to guests to not drink tap water brought to light the fact that the hotel is renting out more rooms than it's licenced for.

This was reported on RÚV today. Speaking to mbl.is, deputy head of police Jóhann Karl Þórisson explains that the hotel owner has to apply for a licence for the additional rooms. If the licence is approved by police, health authorities and the fire control department, the rooms will be unsealed.

The unlicenced rooms were reported to police by representatives of the health department when inspecting the hotel. Following reports that guests are advised against drinking tap water, and to drink bottled water sold at the hotel instead, the Icelandic Consumer Agency and health department inspected the hotel.
