Police leak suspect suspended
The Reykjavik police officer arrested last month on suspicion of taking payments for leaking information has been temporarily suspended by the police force.
His case now moves to an expert committee set up under Icelandic legislation on the rights and obligations of public servants, which will decide either to uphold the decision and suspend the officer permanently or allow him to return to his duties.
The suspension will remain in force until either the investigation is concluded or the committee passes its ruling.
The officer is also entitled to appeal against his suspension to the Icelandic Home Affairs Minister within three months.
