Autumn's first storm broke last night with heavy winds in Reykjavik and on the Reykjanes peninsula.  Over 40 calls were made to rescue teams in the capital area last night due to the weather. Trampolines, roof tiles and scaffolding were blown away, trees broke or were uprooted and a large marquee in West Reykjavik was destroyed and also damaged a rescue team vehicle.

Trampolines were found in trees, on cars and on lampposts to name only a few incidents.

Trampolines were also the main cause of outcalls to rescue teams  in South Iceland last night. Fifty rescue teams were at work to secure trampolines that were flying around in the storm causing danger, and to secure loose roof tiles.

One boat became unsecured at  Njarðvík harbour and was retrieved by rescue teams. The national association of rescue teams would like to point out to the general public to take heed of weather warnings and to secure trampolines, barbecues, all loose objects on balconies and in gardens and to close windows.
