Thousands celebrate Gay Pride in Reykjavik
Gay Pride took place today in Reykjavik with an estimated 30- 40 thousand participants. The Reykjavik Metropolitan Police accompanied the march carrying rainbow coloured banners.
The central Skólavörðustígur street was painted last week in rainbow hues in a collaboration between the City of Reykjavik and the organisers of Gay Pride. One of the highlights of this year's parade was famous Icelandic singer Páll Óskar who "sailed" the streets of the city in a pink glitter Viking ship.
The accompanyng photographs were taken by Morgunblaðið photographer Eva Björk Ægisdóttir.
