The picturesque street of Skólavörðustígur in central Reykjavik has been painted in the bright hues of the Rainbow flag to celebrate Gay Pride on Saturday. The street was painted in a collaboration between the City of Reykjavik and the organisers of Gay Pride.

Mayor Dagur B. Eggertsson posted this photograph up on his Facebook page today writing that the rainbow, painted by dozens of citizens today was more powerful and beautiful than he could have imagined. "I want to thank our incredibly creative staff, shopkeepers and the organisers of Gay Pride and everyone else who took part in the project. This is one way to make our city livelier, more human and simply a better place by great collaboration and beautiful thinking."
