An international school for Reykjavik
The Reykjavik department of education and youth has agreed on a proposal from the board of Landakotsskóli school to begin teaching in a new international department this autumn.
The department is a development project and 24 international pupils will be accepted. According to chairman of the Reykjavik department of education and youth, Skúli Helgason, it is important to meet the needs of diplomatic children and the children of business people staying for a limited period of time in Reykjavik.
Landakotsskóli, or the Landakot school is one of the oldest running schools in Iceland established in 1896 and used to be run by the Catholic church of Iceland. It caters to pupils aged 5- 16 years old.
