Basking shark washed onto North Iceland shore

A large basking shark was found on the beach at Ólafsfjörður, North Iceland yesterday by a group of school children and their teacher.
The shark is a rare sight and can measure up to 12 metres and reach the age of 50.
The shark found in Ólafsweek measured around 7 metres.
