Bus traffic will be restricted in Reykjavik centre from 15 July, according to Reykjavik City website. The traffic ban includes tourist buses/coaches of any size, vehicles with group licenses and specialized vehicles, like mountaineering jeeps. The ban does not apply to buses that service handicapped people or school buses.

All tourist bus/coach traffic will be banned on streets within the yellow colored zone, see map above (excluding Lækjargata). The driving routes around the area are also shown on the map.

Pick-up/drop-off areas will be located on 12 spots near the city center as shown on the map.

An interactive map of the pick-up/drop-off spots can be found on the website busstop.is. The site is under construction but the user will be able to zoom into every location and view an image of what the pick-up/drop-off spot looks like etc. This should make these key spots easy to find. Travelers with smartphones (equipped with GPS) will be able to see where the pick-up/drop-off areas are located and get directions from their current location to the chosen pick-up/drop-off spot. A map of pick-up/drop-off spots in the city center can also be downloaded from the website for viewing offline or printing.

There will be 12 bus stops around the restricted area.
