Hvalfjarðargöng tunnel to close over the next four nights

Hvalfjarðargöng tunnel on the nr. 1 ring road north of Reykjavik will be closed over the next four nights. It will be closed from 22:00 in the evening to 06:00 in the morning on 24, 25, 26 and 27 April.

Closing of the tunnel is an annual event. The time is used for cleaning the tunnel and for annual maintainance.

The nr.1 ring road does not close completely, it's possible to take a detour around Hvalfjörður fjord. It is even very beautiful. The detour will take around 1 hour.
