Summer tourists give Iceland a grade of 85%
Tourists visiting Iceland over the months of June and July have given an average ‘score’ of 85% as regards how happy they were with their holiday.
Length of stay appears to be a factor in how satisfied people are with the experience of visiting Iceland. People staying 5-14 nights gave Iceland an average score of 87% – but this falls to just 81% for those staying 1-2 nights.
There is also some variation by nationality, with the Russians being overall happiest with their stay in Iceland and the Japanese least happy.
The survey – a joint project by Gallup, Isavia and the Icelandic Tourist Board – measures overall satisfaction and experience of tourists visiting Iceland.
The sample is based on e-mail addresses of passengers passing through Keflavík International Airport. Respondents are asked about:
- their overall satisfaction for their Iceland visit;
- the hospitality of Icelanders;
- how likely they are to recommend Iceland as a tourist destination;
- the extent to which Iceland met their expectations;
- whether or not their trip had been worth the cost.
