Icelandic low-cost airline WOW air has announced that it will be moving its Stockholm service from Västerås Airport (VST) to the Swedish capital’s main international airport at Arlanda.

As of 18 November, WOW air services from Iceland will land at Arlanda International Airport (ARL), located around 40 km from the city centre – as compared to 100 km for Västerås Airport.

Ticket sales for the new Arlanda route open today and the airline will maintain its four-times-a-week service – on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. An express train service links ARL to Stockholm city centre in around twenty minutes.

Numbers of Swedish visitors to Iceland have increased by almost 50% since last year, and WOW air launched its Stockholm service in May 2016. “There are also many Icelanders studying and working in Sweden who benefit from low air fares to Iceland,” reads a WOW air press release.
