Bagpipe serenade for WOW air maiden flight to Edinburgh

Sunday saw the first ever flight by Iceland low-cost airline WOW air to the Scottish capital of Edinburgh.

The airline will operate a twice-weekly service, on Wednesdays and Sundays, throughout the summer 2016 season until the end of October.

Passengers arriving on this first new flight were greeted upon landing by a bagpiper playing in tradition Scottish attire playing Scottish folk tunes.

“We are very happy to add Edinburgh to our range of destinations, which are now approaching the thirty mark,” says WOW air CEO Skúli Mogensen. “Edinburgh has attracted many tourists over the years, thanks to its vibrant culture and especially hospitable locals.”

CEO of Edinburgh Airport Gordon Dewar was equally enthusiastic.

“We wish WOW air a warm welcome to Edinburgh Airport. Iceland is an increasingly popular destination with Scottish tourists,” he says.
