A magnitude 3.4 quake hit the caldera of Iceland’s Bárðarbunga volcano just after 2am yesterday morning – the latest in a series of regular seismic activity at the site.

Bárðabunga caused an eruption in Holuhraun in 2014-15, and has recently seen a spate of regular powerful tremors.

This 3.4 rumble comes after quakes of the same magnitude one week and two weeks ago.

Experts at the Icelandic Met Office are monitoring events closely, but have so far not indicated that anything unusual is occurring.
