Bumper 2015 profits for Icelandair

Falling fuel prices, rising demand on North American routes, and more hotel bookings have all contributed to a rise is profits for Icelandair Group of some 67%.

The group’s 2015 results were published yesterday and show a profit of USD 111.2 million (approx. ISK 14.1 billion), some 67% up on full-year profit for 2014.

With tourist numbers in Iceland predicted to approach 1.5 million and with an extra Boeing 757 aircraft and a new scheduled service to Paris Orly, Icelandair Groups expects a 24% increase in its route network capacity in 2016.

The airline also saw record load factors on its flights every single month last year.

Icelandair Group management has proposed paying ISK 3.5 billion in dividends to its shareholders in 2016.
