Tour bus driver Kristján Guðmundsson captured these images of a tourist going too near the ocean at Reynisfjara beach in South Iceland on February 1st. In a Facebook post on a travel industry page he writes that the tourist went too close to the waves despite a long lecture by a tour guide warning all the tourists on the bus not to.

"The woman miscalculated the danger of the waves despite the warning lecture," writes Guðmundsson who adds that a few moments later, two more tourists ended up "in the washing machine" despite having just witnessed the woman almost being dragged out to sea.

"It was  an unusually bad day," Guðmundsson explains to mbl.is. "We heard of one tourist being saved from the waves just before we arrived. It's a serious, consistent problem.

A woman drowned in 2007 at Reynisfjara when she was pulled out to sea by a wave and dozens of people have been in a life-threatening situation there.  There are signs up on the beach in English warning of the dangers.
