Floods hit Egilsstaðir

Heavy rain and melting snow have caused parts of the East Iceland town of Egilsstaðir to flood. No damage has so far been caused and there have been no significant traffic incidents.

According to police duty officer in Egilsstaðir, Davíð Auðbergsson, heavy rain has caused the great amounts of accumulated snow to melt quickly. The consequence is localised flooding, as can be seen above.

Despite the melt, road conditions are still icy in the area and drivers are asked to exercise caution.
