No free water at Keflavik Airport

For several years, tap water has not been available for drinking purposes at Keflavik International Airport. As many readers may know, cold Icelandic tap water comes straight from a spring.

The bathrooms at the airport have touch-free taps so passengers looking for a drink of water have to purchase Icelandic water in bottles at the airport shops or restaurants.

"Passenegers at the airport feel better if they don't have to touch the taps and that's the reason that the water in our taps is warm," responds Guðni Sigurðsson, press officer for Isavia, the company that runs the airport building. "And shops at the airport offer small water bottles for sale and restaurants also offer water in jugs for customers."

He denies this being an attempt to increase sales of water at the airport.
