Scandinavian airline SAS has announced a new daily year-round service between Iceland and Copenhagen, Denmark, commencing March 2016.

As things stand, Icelandic airlines Icelandair and WOW air are the only airlines operating the route. SAS’s only service to Iceland in recent years has been a daily flight from Oslo, Norway.

Speaking to Icelandic tourism and travel website turisti.is (link in Icelandic), SAS spokesperson Trine Kroman Mikkelsen reveals SAS’s plans to offer Icelandic passengers through-bookings from Iceland, via Copenhagen, to SAS world destinations.

SAS is also offering competition against Icelandic airlines on flights to Boston, USA, with a new direct flight from Copenhagen. Up till now, Icelandair and WOW air have been the only Nordic airlines serving the American city.
