Booking the smallest available rental car this summer from Keflavík International Airport (KEF) will cost you at least ISK 9,134 (approx. €62) a day, according to Túristi.is. Hiring an identical car from Copenhagen airport is less than a quarter of this price, i.e. around ISK 2,000/day.

20 European airports compared

Túristi.is has published the results of its price survey dated 30 March. The Rentalcars.com search engine was used to find the cheapest car rentals from twenty European airports* in late June, July and August. A two-week rental with unlimited miles and comprehensive insurance was used as a reference to calculate an average daily rate.

KEF way out ahead in first place

KEF tops the list of the airports in this price-comparison study. Not only that, but car rental at Iceland’s major international airport is considerably more expensive than even the next most expensive airport, Oslo. The average daily rate calculated by Túristi.is for KEF is currently ISK 9,134 while in Oslo it is under ISK 6,000.
