Pink Elephant for New Year’s Eve in Iceland

Bleiki fíllinn, The Pink Elephant, is the only beer in Iceland specially brewed for New Year’s Eve. It is the first collaboration between two Icelandic breweries, Gæðingur and Borg brugghús.

The beer is, as the name suggests, pink. The reason for this is that beetroot is one of the flavourings for this Belgian IPA, in addition to hibiscus flowers and more.

Bleiki fíllinn has been described as a combination of flavours that strangely works by critics (link in Icelandic), a bit crazy but that each sip calls for another one.

The beer is an instant hit, it has already sold out at Keflavik Airport and is now only available in selected bars in Iceland.
