“Iceland is known for its breathtaking landscape, hot volcanic pools and, in 2016 at least, for trouncing the English at soccer,” writes Marcel Krueger in a new article on CNN.

“It’s not yet known, however, for its haute cuisine.”

There follows an overview of the ten most unusual foods visitors might expect to come across when visiting Iceland – from sublime and dreamy skyr, to knock-your-socks-off brennivín, through the questionable (aesthetically) smoked sheep’s head.
