Icelandic label Geysir presented their autumn/winter collection in a sumptious fashion show at the Iðnó theatre in central Reykjavik on Friday night.

Head designer of Geysir is the young and very talented Erna Einarsdóttir who studied both at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam and  Central Saint Martins in London. After a work stint at Saint Laurent for creative director Hedi Slimane, Einarsdóttir was hired directly at Geysir upon her return to Iceland in 2013.

Geysir is beautiful Icelandic shop with three branches in Reykjavik, one at the famous Geysir in South Iceland and one in Akureyri in North Iceland. It offers a beautiful selection of clothing featuring labels such as Farmers Market, Barbour, WoodWood, Ally Cappellino, Hunter and Red Wing as well as it's own collection, Geysir, with this being their second collection by Einarsdóttir.

The new A/W collection is according to Einarsdóttir, inspired by the Icelandic woman and her daily urban life with strong references to traditional Icelandic knits. It features quality materials such as silks, mohair, Icelandic wool, Alpaca and linen and earthy colours mixed with black, grey and surprise touches of sienna and peppermint.

The look was timeless, it had both a vintage and a modern feel and featured plenty of warm layers, gorgeous plaid wool skirts with pretty jumpers in traditional patterns. Outstanding pieces included elegant wool trousers, oversized scarves and stunning metallic plaid dresses that looked like something from a 30's Hollywood film.

The whole feel of the collection is something you imagine wearing to a weekend at a posh summer cottage, which is ultimately a look that translates well into Reykjavik streetwear for winter, in order to look elegant while braving the cold.

It's a collection that's beautifully wearable and will no doubt be popular both with urbanites and country hipsters. It presents dreamy ideal,  a reinvention of Icelandic country living. Einarsdóttir is without a doubt a designer to watch very closely in the future.
