Miss Iceland: "I wanted to be famous"

 The newly crowned Miss Iceland, Anna Lára Orlowska didn't expect to win, but took part in the contest so that people would know who she was. 

Interviewed by Smartland, a style section on mbl.is, Orlowska explains that her surname is Polish and that she works at a youth social centre in Breiðholt, a suburb of Reykjavik. 

Orlowska has a boyfriend, Nökkvi Fjalar Orrason who is a presenter for comedy sketch show Áttan. Speaking to Smartland she says she never felt better. 

"I didn't expect to win this title. I was aiming for the People's choice award, that's something I felt that I could win on my own merits. You never know what the judges are looking for."

Why did you take part? "There are many people who know me through my boyfriend, and also because of my best friend. Both of them are famous in Iceland. I wanted people to know who I was. That I'm Anna Lára."

What will the win change for you? "It will change everything for the better and it's already opened a huge door for me."

How will your winter be? "I'm already preparing for the Miss World contest and will be continuing my usual job at the youth centre. "

What do you do to relad? "I love to go to Laugar Spa to relax."
