Director Baltasar Kormákur and his wife, investor Lilja Pálmadóttir were present at the premiere of Kormákur's film Everest at the Venice Biennale last night. The film opened this prestigious festival.

"Noone moved, noone went to the bathroom, so at least I know everyone was watching the film," said a laughing Kormákur to mbl.is after the anticpiated premiere of the biggest Hollywood movie directed by an Icelander. "At least its unusual for noone to go to the bathroom while drinking." Everest has a star studded cast that includes Jake Gyllenhaal and Kiera Knightley, also present at the premiere. Italian president Sergio Mattarella also attended.

Like Iceland Monitor reported yesterday, Everest has received mixed reviews although the general verdict is farily good. Rottentomatoes gives the film 75 percent and IMBD gives it 8,7. Kormákur said to mbl.is that he's happy with the film's reception. He will be travelling to the Deauville film festival next and then attend premieres in London, Hollywood and Toronto to name a few. "I brought a few suits with me," says Kormákur who was recently on a list of best dressed men in Esquire.
