Still Life is the name of a new exhibition opening tomorrow at 3pm at Reykjavik Art Museum.

It is the fourth exhibition by art group Kunstschlager and will be open until 9 August in the Museum’s D Gallery. The exhibition is a collection works by nineteen contemporary artists on the classic theme of still life.

The aim of the exhibition is to “give insight into many different techniques and methods contemporary artists use to approach this classic style”.

“Participants were asked to create new work based on a specific object of their own choice,” reads a description of the exhibition of the group’s Facebook page. “What you see upon entering the space is a gentle nuance of the original term; which usually consists of many objects, arranged in a delicate, pleasing manner. This exhibition takes on the everyday and all of its poetical beauty. The Still-Life makes us re-appreciate what is around us and encourages us to take a closer look to what’s in front of us.”
