The Wall Street Journal has just published a piece where artist Olafur Eliasson, fashion designer Steinunn Sigurðardóttir, Siggi Hilmarsson of Siggi's skyr and star chef Hrefna Rósa Sætran recommend their favourite places in the city.

"Blending the casualness of a village with big-city know-how, Reykjavik has world-class chefs who are pushing culinary boundaries with New Nordic cuisine; Harpa, the new harborside cultural center that has garnered global attention for its jagged, shimmering facade; and rapidly evolving art, design and fashion scenes. At the same time, elves are sometimes cited as the culprits behind construction snafus, the police post selfies with snowmen on an official Instagram account and visitors drop by the mayor’s home for waffles on Culture Night, a celebration of music, visual arts, architecture and dance held every August," writes journalist Jeanine Barone.

Among the places recommended are the Sundhöll Reykjavikur swimming pool, the 101 hotel, Kex Hostel and restaurant The Cuckoo's Nest.
