Iceland’s October ‘heat wave’

Iceland is currently experiencing unseasonably high temperatures, with the mercury hitting 17.6°C (64°F) at Skjaldþingsstaðir in East Iceland yesterday.
Temperatures in eastern parts are expected to remain around 15°C today, as warm air from the south brings warmer than average temperatures for the time of year across the country.
Those in southern and western parts of the country will, however, be seeing strong winds and rain showers at least today and tomorrow.
This current ‘heat wave’ – with accompanying blustery conditions – will last until Sunday, when temperatures are expected to drop considerably.
