Iceland has highest share of renewable energy in Europe

71% of energy used in Iceland in 2014 came from renewable sources – the highest renewable share in Europe.
Iceland is closely followed by Norway, at 69%, according to Iceland’s Ministry of Industries and Innovation. The European Union average is somewhat lower, at just over 15%.
The Icelandic government produces a biannual report on the use of renewable energy, and the latest report (for 2013-14) is available below:
