Safety measures after Jökulsárlón death
The company operating Iceland’s popular Jökulárlón glacier lagoon site have implemented new safety measures following the death of a foreign tourist last week.
On Thursday, a lady in her fifties holidaying in Iceland with her family was run over by a boat and killed instantly.
The next day, the area in which the amphibian tour boats operate – i.e. between the service centre and the lagoon itself – was fenced off. Warning signs have now also been installed.
The identity of the deceased has not yet been disclosed.
